Regional Security and
Risk Analysis Group

Providing foresight-driven analysis of regional security dynamics to support informed

decision-making and early response to emerging risks.

Role and Focus

The Regional Security and Risk Analysis Group constitutes Nawa’s analytical and foresight core. It focuses on understanding conflict dynamics, regional security trends, and evolving risk environments in fragile and post-conflict contexts. The group supports decision-makers and practitioners by providing structured analysis that links political, security, economic, and social dimensions of conflict.

Its areas of focus include regional security architectures, war economies and conflict financing, protection and human rights dynamics, and the impact of international and regional policies on conflict-affected settings.

Insights

The group produces analytical outputs that inform policy and strategic decision-making, including:

  • Situation and risk assessment reports
  • Policy briefs and analytical papers
  • Influence and stakeholder mapping
  • Scenario-building and early-warning indicators

These insights are designed to support both high-level policy dialogue and operational planning.

Projects

While primarily analytical, the group contributes to applied projects by:

  • Supporting the design of programs and interventions through contextual analysis
  • Advising on conflict sensitivity, risk mitigation, and strategic alignment
  • Providing analytical backstopping to field-based initiatives

This ensures that projects are grounded in evidence and responsive to evolving dynamics.

Engagements

The group engages in policy dialogue and expert exchange through:

  • Participation in regional and international forums
  • Closed-door briefings and expert consultations
  • Contributions to high-level dialogue platforms under agreed confidentiality frameworks

These engagements enable Nawa to contribute analytical perspectives to broader policy debates.

At Nawa, we see the post-conflict phase not as the end of a crisis, but as the beginning of a new developmental path.
