Brigadier General Dr. Khaled Okasha serves as General Manager and Co-Founder of NAWA, bringing together extensive field experience, advanced academic specialization, and senior institutional leadership in the field of strategic security and complex conflict analysis in the Middle East. He is widely recognized for his applied work at the intersection of regional security dynamics, state resilience, and post-conflict transformation.
He holds a PhD in Planning and Management of Security Strategies from the Police Academy in Cairo and serves as a visiting professor at several Egyptian universities. His academic grounding complements decades of professional engagement in risk analysis, armed group evolution, and regional strategic shifts.
Dr. Okasha has contributed to major national policy frameworks, including Egypt’s National Human Rights Strategy and the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), supporting the translation of policy architecture into operational institutional mechanisms through partnerships with UN Women, national councils, and government entities.
Internationally, he has participated in high-level platforms including COP27, the Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development (SIPRI 2024), and closed-door strategic dialogues conducted under the Chatham House Rule. He previously served for nearly seven years as Executive Director of the Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS), leading a multidisciplinary research ecosystem of over 120 experts.
At NAWA, he leads the institution’s strategic direction, focusing on evidence-based conflict analysis, multi-track dialogue support, and the development of practical policy pathways in fragile and transitional regional contexts.
