Excellent Condition. Hand Carved. Wood. Lacquered. Deep etched Floral Decoration. Bent Twig. Attached Wood Supports. Dimensions: 11 in. height. 4.5 in. depth. 3 in. width. Never been used for smoking. Many different Thoughts on the origin. Europe, China, etc. Some say the style was borrowed from the Native American/Mexican Tribal "Peace Pipe". Also resembles some African carved pipes. Also resembles some of the designs from the Mango Wood Vases from Thailand. Folk Art. The actual date of origin is tough to nail down. I think early to mid-20th century. Displays a skilled carved art/ converation piece.
