Peterson is famous for his intricate silver work. The sterling applications are made by hand and individually adapted to each pipe. A task that was both technically and artistically demanding for the two silversmiths Jason Hinch and Simon Ellard. Under Irish law, the precious metals gold, silver and platinum are subject to a purity test by the Assay Office located in Dublin Castle before they are released for sale. This is done using three hallmarks: - The symbol of Hibernia (Queen on Throne), which identifies Ireland as the place of origin. - The authenticity of the sterling silver is confirmed by a crowned harp. - An annually changing letter that can be used to determine when the silver was released. The last-mentioned hallmark offers an excellent opportunity to determine the year of man.
